Geological Studies

SAMIROCK’s Geological Section was created in 1999 and is run by a team of Highly qualified, competent and experienced engineers and geologist’s. Geological studies are conducted for the examination of rocks and their characteristics for three primary purposes:

1. The safety of rock blasting operations and suitability of building sites.
For these applications we look for faults, cracks, fractures, folds and slides. Included in these activities are:

  •  Preparation of lithological maps that show types and characteristics of rocks related to a certain project. Determining rock types before and during rock-cutting projects to reveal the ideal technique for treatment during the cutting process, how to support loose parts, and utilizing the gathered information to determine quantity and type of materials needed for blasting.
  •  Preparation of geological maps (land utilization) that show solid rocks, unstable sedimentary rocks and sandstones.

2. The examination for petroleum extraction.
This Division has conducted studies lately for oil deposits at Al Lujoon area in central Jordan. The purpose was to evaluate reserves and oil volumes in rocks to decide the feasibility of oil investments in the area.

Whether you want to blast rock, build on rock, use rock for commercial purposes or extract black gold from rock, the SAMIROCK Geological Surveys Division looks forward to working with you.
